Product Description In recent years, mainstream Americans have begun to come around to meditation in a big way-and scientific studies are suggesting that the physical and mental benefits are solid and real. But to many, it remains something mystical and inaccessible...and spiritually-oriented tomes on the market don't do much to make it easier.
As interest in meditation continues to grow, this book offers a simple, no-nonsense program to help beginners experience reduced stress and increased focus in only eight minutes a day. Designed by meditation expert and bestselling author Victor Davich, this program teaches the basic principles of meditation while clearing up the misconceptions and myths that too often get in the way.

Excellent value! August 8, 2010 Cliff Bryant (Boston, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book changed my life! Today, I begin the 6th week of the program outlined in this book by Victor Davich. It is a simple, but very powerful program. My anxiety is gone. I feel much more at one with myself, relaxed, and much better able to manage and handle the stress in my life. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, and meditation, in general, to everyone.
I respectfully disagree with what a previous reviewer said about the CD. As a beginning meditator, I find it useful to listen to the weekly meditation track, when I meditate. Each meditation begins and ends with a pleasant gong sound. And, there is instruction before, during, and after the actual 8 minute meditation period to keep the meditation on track. The meditation tracks of the CD provide an easy and natural way to time and structure your meditations.
Get the new audio August 8, 2010 TMF 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you do get the book for the Kindle then definitely get the new audio companion too as it will help you out immensely when just starting your meditation practice. But make sure to get the new version of the audio, the audio quality has been much improved and is a lot easier to listen to than the old one, recommend it a lot, add the tracks to your ipod. It's not available everywhere, but search for Victor's 8 Minute Meditation site and you will find it.
I meditate daily now, doesn't take much, 8 minutes average just like the book says. Sometimes I'll go a bit longer and sometimes cut it shorter, all depends on the level of stress I'm dealing with that day. Try to find a time that works best for you, but the 8 minutes was chosen because that's the time in between TV commercials, so if you watch a lot of TV then already you're prepared to do an 8 Minute Meditation!8 Minute Meditation Guided CD
quintessential guide to meditation for the uninitiated July 3, 2010 Marie Peeler (Pembroke, MA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
8 Minute Meditation is the book for anyone who is interested in exploring meditation in order to quiet and focus the mind, but who doesn't want to delve into the religious aspects or origins. It's also great for those who are afraid to try meditation because they don't have an hour a day or more to give to a practice or think that they can't focus long enough to be successful.
While meditation does have roots in Eastern Philosophy, this book gets right down to How To Meditate and makes meditation accessible to even those who have never tried it. It's a quick read and the author only asks you to devote 8 minutes each day to the techniques he has outlined. And he outlines lots of them - enough techniques for even a beginner to find one that they like.
good meditation program April 8, 2010 John Wild 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have tried various forms of meditation over the years, but the title of this book caught my eye. It definitely gave me a lot of "tools" to add to my meditation skill set. I think it would be excellent for beginners, but also people like me who have had a bit more exposure. It is well-written and easy to follow.
We live in a crazy world and this is a nice way to get a little break from it. It's easy to think you don't have time to spend even 8 minutes on something like meditation, but my experience with it has been that I get the time I put into meditation back through increased energy and focus.
Exactly what the psyche ordered.... February 10, 2010 K. A. Long (chicago, il) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
makes the practice of meditation available to anyone with a busy life... doesn't buy into the nonsense of past instruction books of meditation... I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to manage the stress in their life.
