does it work? September 5, 2010 grandma lib (USA) I've been using this stuff for about 6 months and it doesn't seem to have made any difference to the frequency of my UTI's.
Working Great so far... August 27, 2010 Amanda I mix this powder into a smoothie in the morning and it seems to be doing the trick. (Frozen berries, 1 tsp D-Mannose, un-sweetened juice + Majic Bullet = morning bliss) Although I would like to see a study done on this stuff to see how effective it really is. I first used it every day and now I have scaled-back to 2-3 times a week.
LIFESAVER! If you are feeling skeptical, just try it, it really works! August 13, 2010 A.nonymous (United States) I cannot express how thrilled I have been to find out about D-Mannose. For years I have suffered recurrent UTIs, especially during pregnancy. For two of my pregnancies they put me on a daily dose of antibiotics because the infection was constant-and they just released a study showing that those specific drugs cause dark staining to the child's permanent teeth. =(
This pregnancy I really wanted to not take antibiotics again, but when I had the onset of another very painful UTI, I didn't know what to do. When I talked to a friend who is a nurse, she told me about this product. She worked with the Doctor who did research showing that it effectively flushes e. coli (the most common culprit of UTI) out because it prevents the bacteria from invading your bladder lining.
I was in a lot of pain-a full blown infection. I had all the classic symptoms-fever, chills, frequency, urgency, horrible burning, cloudy, etc. I had the MannoMax product overnighted because it was on Amazon Prime, and within 6 hours of beginning a 1 tsp every 2 hr. regimen, I was feeling relief from burning and the chills had diminished-24 hours later I was completely symptom free. That was 5 days ago, and I tapered down my dose to 1/2 tsp. 3x a day for a week, and I completely recovered. I ordered this particular bottle (Now brand) because it was the same price for a little bit more. It seems to work just as well-I am only taking it about 1/2 t. in a glass of water every other day or if it seems I may be prone to getting a UTI (like if I'm feeling run down, or not drinking enough water). Even though my other pregnancies I always had an almost constant UTI that antibiotics wouldn't clear, this time I am fine and healed without medications.
I couldn't be happier to have found this-I just wish I would have known about it a decade (and many dozens of UTIs) ago and prevented harming my kids in utero by taking antibiotics. I have seen six urologists over the years, and begged for any natural solution (beyond water & cranberry) and never heard of this before now. I will be telling my doctor about it asap. I am amazed at how quickly and efficiently it worked-I've never had relief so fast from an antibiotic.
The ONLY downside I noticed, is that when I was taking it maximum strength (1 tsp in water) every 2 hours, I did notice a need to go to the bathroom more frequently, but no discomfort. I don't know if that was the water intake or the d-mannose-but flushing out the bacteria worked and I couldn't be more pleased.
Must have August 4, 2010 L. Perry (East) I started have issues with recurrent BV and urethritis/vulvodynia-like symptoms. This was crippling.I couldnt be intimate.I was always irritable because I was almost always uncomfortable. This lasted more than 1 1/2 years and is ongoing if I dont manage it.Dozens of doctors and dozens of rounds antibiotics(that only made it worse)later I finally got smart and I am never without this.I am sensitive to oxalates(just like my Mom),rarely consumed pure h20 and I LOVE caffiene. Now I know what to do.
I HIGHLY recommend this product and this is my favorite brand(Ive tried many).Taken with plenty of water consistataly for a week makes a world of difference-almost instantly. For me,using this and taking Citracal(for Oxalates) really, really helps. Its great for mild to moderate vaginal issues too and when taken with a good oregano supplement,D-Mannose will knock out a yeast infection pretty quickly.
I prefer the powder to the pills. Its pretty much tasteless and is pleasant to drink. It only adds the smallest trace of sweetness to water. It leaves the body(taking bacteria, bound with it)and is also safe for diabetics.
I am quick to offer it to close ones.Even my co-worker,with a tilted bladder raved about how it cleared her infection almost instantly.
A UTI simply cannot persist if your tract cannot harbor bacteria. That bacteria gets washed away,so it cannot stick around to cause the inflammation that causes those symptoms. For persistant UTI suffers, there will be upkeep. You will have to continue to use D-mannose at least as mantainence every now and then. But this stuff will be around forever and I take comfort in that.
The single and only issue Ive ever had with D-Mannose is that if I overdo it by taking way too much,I seems to irritate my bladder causing a temorary consistant feeling of "having to go."
Dont think about it if you are having bladder/female issues.Cranberry has nothing on D-Mannose.
Helped with uti symptoms only July 19, 2010 V. R. Parrish 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I gave this product 3 stars because it did help to relieve the symptoms of the UTI I had but it did not do anything to help clear it up. I would use it again if I was unable to get to the doctor's office for a day or two but it definately will not help to clear up a full blown UTI.
